Fact-Checking Policy
How we verify formulas, citations, and the claims we publish.
Last updated: 25 June 2026
Choosing formulas
For every calculator we ship, we pick a formula that is widely cited in the peer-reviewed literature or in public-health guidance, with documented validity in adult populations. Where multiple formulas exist (e.g. ideal weight, body fat), we either pick the most-validated one or average across the major options.
Reviewing references
Each reference we cite is checked for: (1) authorship and source credibility, (2) currency, and (3) relevance to the claim. We prefer primary sources over secondary summaries.
Updating content
When public-health guidance is updated — for example, when the WHO revises BMI categories, when NICE publishes new ethnicity-specific thresholds, or when an AASM consensus statement changes recommended sleep duration — we update the affected calculator and guide and record the date.
Reporting issues
If you believe something on the site is inaccurate, please use our contact form with the topic "Correction request" and include a citation or a link to the corrected source. We review every report.
